Submit your website to the 3 major Search Engines by Yannis

Did you know that between 85% to 90% of all traffic going to websites comes from search engines and that vast majority of those searches comes from the 3 major Search Engines. These major search engines have dominated the internet search industry for more than 10 years; They are Google, Microsoft LIVE Search and Yahoo.

For your website to be indexed correctly by these search engines, you need to put in some work. Besides just submitting your websites address to search engines, you need to help them better understand your internal linking structure by including a Sitemap.xml. A Simemap.xml is basically a document that contains links all the pages of your website, giving a priority to each page and how often that page is updated. You also want to include a Sitemap.html page which is what a human will see and gives a basic presentation of the main pages of the website.

To save time on creating a Sitemap.xml and Sitemap.html, visit http://www.xml-sitemaps.com and input your websites address and within less than a minute you will have your Sitemap created. You need to then upload the files to your web server. Then let the search engines know the Sitemap is there by using the following:

Google Webmasters, Yahoo Site Explorer, Live Search Webmaster Central
